A pair of Chinese hardstone Shishi or Guardian Lions, representing a couple consisting of a male and a female. The male is represented with his paw on a sphere (which represents the material elements), while the female is represented with a paw on a small calf (which represents the element of spirit).
The Shishi or Guardian Lions were thought to protect any building from harmful spiritual influences and harmful people that might be a threat.
In good condition, with some minor scratches.
